'KNOW BEFORE YOU GO' CAMPAIGN
On 25 June the Foreign and Commonwealth
Office launched 'Know Before You Go', a new travel advice campaign
aimed at encouraging British nationals to be better prepared before
travelling overseas.
Following a survey which showed that
15 per cent of travellers never take out travel insurance and 70
per cent do not research their destination before departure, the
campaign's key messages incldue checking the FCO's travel advice
and getting properly insured before making a trip overseas.
Launching the campaign, Foreign Office
Minister Baroness Symons said:
'British people make more than 53 million
overseas trips every year, but many travellers do not take out travel
insurance or check the safety of their destination before they go.
It is a situation that spoils thousands of holidays. Last year alone,
it cost more than 400 lives'.
