Consular Section

The Consular Section is located on the 24th floor of Burj al-Fatih and is open to the public 08:00 - 15:00 hrs Sunday - Thursday. telephone number:British citizens requiring consular assistance are welcome to call any time between 08:00 - 15:00. If you require urgent consular assistance out of hours please telephone the Consular Duty Officer - Mobile: 091 220 2687.

The Consular Section of the Embassy looks after the interests of all British nationals visiting or living in Libya. These pages tell you about the assistance we can (and can not) offer should you encounter problems during your time in Libya. They explain the process for registering your presence in Libya with the Embassy. They also give information about applying for and renewing passports and about other services provided by the Consular Section and give the latest British Government travel advice for Libya.

ARE YOU PREPARED TO TRAVEL?

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has launched "Know Before You Go", a new travel advice campaign aimed at encouraging British nationals to be better prepared before travelling overseas. Click here for more details.


Consular Wardens

We operate a network of volunteer Consular Wardens who will be able to keep in touch with the Embassy in the event of a general emergency. Please contact consular section for details of the warden in your area/company.

Out of Hours Assistance

Complaints

If you have any complaint about your treatment at the British Embassy, please write to Mr Asif Choudhury, Vice Consul at the following address; British Embassy, 24th Floor, Bourj al-Fatih Tower, Tripoli. Please mark your envelope 'PERSONAL'

If the complaint refers to me personally please write to the Consul General, Mr Robert Wilson. We aim to answer your complaint within three working days.
