Visa Statistics
The Visa Section has received over 8600 visa applications in the
first six months of 2004. Almost 90% of those applications have
been issued within 24 hours of receipt of applications.
New Visa Service
We are offering a new service to applicants who meet the following
criteria:
· Have two or more previous UK visas (within the
last 5 years) and are applying for the same type of visa.
· Students who are sponsored by the Libyan Government
to study Higher Studies (Masters/PHD) in the United Kingdom. The
students must already have an acceptance letter from the University
for the Higher Studies course and have either the appropriate English
level (IELTS) or a suitable English course already arranged in the
UK in order to achieve the University English language requirements.
If an applicant meets the above criteria, he may submit a completed
VAF1, two photograph and the appropriate documentation (including
proof of two previous visas if applicable) to the Ground Floor Office
using the fast track queue. The papers will be checked
and the applicant then needs to pay the appropriate visa fee (on
the 24th floor). It is unlikely that s/he will need to be interviewed
by a Visa Officer.
New requirements
To allow for the introduction of the new photovignettes, all photographs

· Measure 45 x 35 mm
· Be full face forward
· The face must be 3-3.5cm in length
All children included on a parent's passport and who are traveling
with the parent must submit 2 photograph per child.
